The perfect hill station for weary souls, this tiny town is situated at an elevation of 2600 meters above sea level in beautiful surroundings of the Garhwal Himalayas. It is said that few decades ago, there used to be a lake called Kanatal ("one-eyed lake" in Hindi), but since has dried up and the town has been named the same in memory of that lake itself.
This place is a treat if one is looking for pleasing surroundings, calmness and queitude, with the right amount of adventure thrown in, and an added bonus of being unexplored by prying eyes of crowding tourists!
