BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK

Counted among highly appreciated tiger reserves of Central India after Kanha National Park, this reserve is famous for being the place where India’s first White Tiger was discovered by Maharajas of Rewa. The place gets its name from the ancient Bandhavgarh Fort which is believed to have been gifted by Lord Rama to his younger brother Lakshmana. 'Bandhav' in English means brother and ‘Garh’ means fort. It boasts of 37 species of mammals, 250 species of birds, 80 species of butterflies and highest density of Royal Bengal Tigers in the world.

The Khitauli-Magdhi-Kallawah-Tala ranges, along with Panpatha Sanctuary and the buffer zone, comprised to form Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in the year 1993.
