Situated 14km from Sawai Madhopur, the park gets its name from the fort situated inside its boundaries. It became a national park in the year 1980. Home to the elusive tiger along with leopard, chinkara, sambhar, cheetal and over 300 species of bird, it also houses one of the largest Banyan trees in India. Majestically located between Aravali and Vindhya ranges, it is one of the biggest and most renowned national park in Northern India.

Ranthambore National Park, Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and the Kaladevi Sanctuary together comprised to establish the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the year 1973.
