Hanuwantiya is an unexplored and potential adventure tourism hub and spread over an implausible expanse of over 61,600 sq km. The Indira Sagar Lake has over 100 islands featuring wildlife. All islands are accessible with a speed boat. It is a newly introduced water tourism destination and lies close to Khandwa town in Western Madhya Pradesh. It is developed & promoted by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. The name "Hanuwantiya" is derived from local village name with same name which lies in Malhagarh Tehsil of Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh
