Satpura National Park is nurtured in the Satpura Ranges of Hoshangabad district in center Madhya Pradesh and covers an area of 524 sq km. Its name is derived from sanskrit word in which ‘Sapta’= Seven and ‘Pura’= Hills and is very rich in biodiversity. Being of the most beautiful and secluded national parks of Madhya Pradesh, it offers stunning sunset views and cruises on the Tawa River (Tawa Dam and Reservoir) as well as on its meadows and backwaters (Madhai)
It adjoins Pachmarhi and Bori Wildlife Sanctuaries, along with the Satpura National Park to constitute the area called Satpura Tiger Reserve (1427 sq km) which was established in 1999-2000.
